Who We Are
Shortz Landscape Associates, Inc. is an experienced landscape contracting organization led by owner Chris Shortz. A graduate of Alfred State College, Chris has worked in the landscape field since 1985, sharpening his skills on hundreds of projects and progressing to head his own firm. To maintain a quality, detail oriented, full service company, Chris uses his experience in a range of disciplines from years of diverse projects. After such work in the Rochester region, he is attuned to the unique aspects of local soils, climate, pests & disease.
Shortz Landscape is a Design/Build Landscape Contractor, meaning that we have the capabilitiy to initiate complete designs as well as contract with you to install designs created by other sources. Our associates include a network of area craftsmen skilled in each of the specialties making up complete landscape installation. They are called upon as needed under the overall responsibility and management of Chris Shortz, who coordinates the whole job using the best person for each task. Shortz Landscape thus provides the client with full, single point support and representation with any subcontractors to ensure the overall project is completed to plan. We are fully insured for our work on your property.
Professional Knowledge & Rochester Regional Experience
Shortz Landscape is a member of the New York State Nursery Landscape Association (NYSNLA) and a past exhibitor at Gardenscape, the Rochester Flower Show. We use stonework installers trained by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). Participation in the education & training programs of New York's Certified Nursery & Landscape Professional (CNLP) program has given our staff broad knowledge in the many aspects of landscape design, installation and maintenance.
Our past projects include both residential and commercial properties. The services provided include all aspects of landscape development, delivered by our specialized associates. Shortz Landscape succeeds on projects as diverse as

We use the highest quality nursery stock and landscape materials available. From our efforts 'fixing' other providers' projects, we're aware of how inferior solutions lead to unfortunate rework.
Bringing paper designs to life on your property requires each Shortz worker to be analytical and practical as well as creative. Like you, we want to solve problems arising during the work, and not ignore them, for the best result.
We are able to subcontract services which we do not provide so that you only deal with Shortz as the one responsible contractor. We can pick up a project at any point and carry it to completion.
We are not dependant on one technology nor manufacturer (e.g. concrete pavers ONLY), so our designs consider several appropriate alternatives and their benefit to you, rather than force one approach.
